EARNING OF EASTERN RAILWAY INCREASED
Kolkata: Monday, July 19, 2010.
Eastern Railway has succeeded in increasing its earning to Rs. 1207.22 crores during the period from April to June 2010 as against Rs. 1149.22 crores earned during the corresponding period of last year i.e. April to June 2009. This show an incremental growth of Rs. 58 crores i.e. 5.05% this year over last year.
Of the total earning, Rs. 342.70 crores were earned from passenger traffic of Eastern Railway during the period from April to June 2010 as against Rs. 326.41 crores earned during the corresponding period of last year, thus registering an increase of about 5% this year over last year.
Similarly, goods earning of Eastern Railway also increased to Rs. 811.21 crores during the period from April to June 2010 as against Rs. 779.47 crores earned during the corresponding period of last year and thus registering an increase by 4.7 % this year over last year.
PASSENGER TRAFFIC INCREASED
Eastern Railway succeeded in carrying as many as 26.74 crores of passengers during the period from April to June 2010 as against 24.31 crores of passengers carried during the corresponding period of last year. There was an increase of passenger traffic by 9.98 % this year of Eastern Railway over last year.
FREIGHT LOADING
Eastern Railway succeeded in carrying 13.275 million tones of freight traffic during the period from April to June 2010. Of the total freight traffic, coal alone amounted to 8.852 million tones and other goods were 4.423 million tones. Among the other goods there were cement, fly ash, potato, Jute, edible oil, petroleum oil, sand etc.
