Seven oil tankers supplying fuel to NATO troops in Afghanistan have been destroyed in a bomb attack in northwest Pakistan near the border with Afghanistan.
The incident occurred on Monday at a terminal near the Torkham border crossing town in the Khyber Agency of Pakistan's Federally Administered Tribal Areas.
"A bomb fitted with a timer blew up an oil tanker. It triggered a fire that engulfed six more tankers," local administration official Shahar Yar Khan said, AFP reported.
However, there were no reports of any casualties, he added.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, although Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan militants regularly conduct attacks on NATO convoys in Pakistan.
Over the past few months, militants in the tribal areas have staged numerous attacks and destroyed hundreds of NATO vehicles destined for US-led foreign troops in Afghanistan.
In response, the Pakistani authorities have deployed large contingents of police and military forces on all the major arteries in the area.
