O'Reilly gets trapped in his own "No Spin Zone!"
Assalaamu Alaikum (Greetings of Peace):
I begin on a personal note. This is coming to our readers from Montgomery, Alabama. My brother in Islam, Sahib Abdus-Salaam, was buried yesterday in a very beautiful and fitting ceremony that was attended by Muslim and non-Muslim family and friends. I will have more to say on this later, insha'Allah.
With that said, Mr. Bill O'Reilly ended up getting trapped in his own "No Spin Zone" when he challenged a young Chicago rapper who goes under the name Lupe Fiasco, for calling President Obama (and the government that he represents) "terrorist."
O'Reilly began by derisively dismissing the young rapper's fans as "not exactly political scientists," as he proceeded in his attempt to chastise Lupe for "misleading" them. As the video will show, however, Mr. O'Reilly and his producers bit off far more than they could chew when they invited the young brother on for a debate.
When O'Reilly threw down the "bin Laden" (and by extension, al-Qaeda) is a monster bait, and the shouldn't we have gone after him trap, the young rapper stumbled for a moment, but then quickly regained his footing with the response that his problem was "with the war in Afghanistan."
This was where the brief debate really got interesting.
O'Reilly stated: "The reason we went to Afghanistan was to deprive al-Qaeda of its sanctuary. We removed the Taliban government when they wouldn't crack down on al-Qaeda...now, to get bin Laden, that was another part of the operation, ok?"
Lupe's response: "The legitimate part is to go find a [alleged] criminal"
O'Reilly's response: "The legitimate part was to remove a government, which we did, which enabled a terrorist group to declare war on the United States."
Lupe's response: "That thinking right there is what I have a problem with!"
The debate when downhill for O'Reilly from there (in my humble opinion). Why? Because the line of thinking represented by Bill O'Reilly, and his "O'Reilly Factor" devotees and supporters, is a line of reasoning that every clear-minded, freedom and justice-loving American should have a problem with.
And while I am tempted to explore the many fallacies imbedded in the Bill O'Reilly line of thinking, I want to keep this short. Let me simply say this for the record.
O'Reilly, being the broadcast bully that he is, thought that he would have easy pickings with a young rapper from the hood; instead, he and his producers got a real shock, as the well spoken and well informed hip-hop artist got the better of the debate.(This was most evident by the rather petty and embarrassing way O'Reilly ended the exchange; with a reference to something the brother was wearing).
The bottom line is that President Barack H. Obama, and the organization he heads as commander-in-chief (the U.S. Military), are behaving like global terrorists. But as a wise man once said: "The violence of the weak is called terrorism and denounced, while the violence of the strong is called war and glorified."
The establishment's fear is that young artists like Lupe Fiasco might accelerate the process by which America's youth could become more politically aware, and less susceptible to Uncle Sam's call to volunteer for "service" in an unwarrated death and destruction dealing enterprise, which at the end of the day will bring enormous shame, and a greater risk to us all.
As Thomas Jefferson said: "I tremble for my country when I reflect, God is just; His justice cannot sleep forever."

Among some of the viewer (respondent feedback) was the following:
"Obviously Lupe is way out of bounds. He doesn't seem to understand that there are only two lines of acceptable thought and that is the exclusive domain of the corporate media. Americans aren't supposed to think. The media does that for us."
"I'm a white middle aged man and if the younger generation is as intelligent as Lupe Fiasco, then I'm encouraged that we may still be able to restore America. Idiots like Bill O'Reilly need to give up their corporate induced control over the media and allow real Americans (not those who have sold their soul to the corporatocracy) to speak for real Americans. Congratulations Lupe, you just made Bill un-American O'Reilly eat his own shit on national TV."
I couldn't agree more!
