Who is better, a friend who listens to you or the one who ignores you? Even after repeated requests, Bharti Airtel refuses to fulfill its promise to reveal its carbon emissions.
The telecom sector is powered by subsidised dirty diesel, a subsidy clearly not meant for them. [1] Market leader Bharti Airtel and the Cellular Operator's Authority of India (COAI) promised to disclose their carbon emissions and a plan to use renewable energy by September 2011.[2] Now they seem to have forgotten all about this promise.
Vodafone on the other hand has disclosed its carbon emissions and is working on a plan to use more renewable energy in its operations.[3] If Vodafone can, so can Bharti Airtel. We need to remind Bharti Airtel about its promise, like a good friend would do.
Can you send an email to Bharti Airtel Chairman Sunil Mittal, asking him to fulfil the promise made by his company?

Over 10,000 people have already sent emails to Sunil Mittal. More and more mobile phone users asking Bharti Airtel to fulfil its promise will help put pressure on them to act.
Oil is a dirty power resource and its dangers were made evident by the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in USA last year.[4] A study by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change shows that renewable energy can provide safe and secure electricity to the world.[5]
