नयी दिल्ली, अक्टूबर ३ : छत्तीसगढ़ सरकार के द्वारा मानवाधिकार कार्यकर्ताओं का पीडन जारी है और उसका ताज़ा उदाहरण आज सुबह छत्तीसगढ़ पोलिसे के विशेष दस्ते के द्वारा कविता श्रीवास्तव, सचिव, People's Union for Civil Liberties के घर राजस्थान पोलिसे के करीब ४० जवानों के साथ उनके घर छापा मारना. पुलिस का कहना था की वो कुछ संदिग्ध माओवादियों की तलाश कर रहे थे. एक घंटे की इस तलाशी के दौरान उनको कुछ तो मिला नहीं लेकिन उन्होनो पूरा घर के सामानों को तितर बितर कर दिया.

जन आंदोलनों का राष्ट्रीय समन्वय इस बात की कड़ी निंदा करता है और छत्तीसगढ़ सरकार से यह मांग करता है की इस तरह के हरकतों से बाज आये. सामाजिक और मानवाधिकार कार्यकर्ते इन करतूतों से डरने वाले नहीं है अलबत्ता हमारा हौसल और इनसे बुलंद ही होगा. पूरा देश जानता है की पिछले दो दशकों से कविता ने भोजन और जीविका के अधिकार के लिए, नारीवादी और शांति  आन्दोलन में सक्रिय भूमिका निभाई है. पिछले पांच सालों में निरंतर छत्तीसगढ़ में आदिवासियों के ऊपर हो रहे पुलिसिया जुल्म और मानवाधिकार कर्यकर्तों जैसे की बिनायक सेन, कोपा कुंजम (दोनों अभी बेल पैर रिहा है), कर्तम जोग और अन्य के रिहाई को लेकर सक्रिय हैं.

छत्तीसगढ़ सरकार का यह कदम उनको डराने और बाकि लोगों को एक सन्देश भेजने का है. यह बिलकुल ही गैर क़ानूनी है. हम आशा करते हैं की सरकार इन हरकतों से बाज आएगी और अपनी उर्जा दलितों, आदिवासिओं को न्याय पहुँचाने के लिए करेगी.

कविता, NAPM की राष्ट्रीय समन्वयक रह चुकी हैं. कल ४ अक्टूबर को Indian Women's press क्लब, दिल्ली में NAPM, PUCL और बाकि अन्य संघथ्ना मिलकर इस मुद्दे पर एक पत्रकार गोष्ठी का आयोजन ३:३० बजे से करेंगे.

New Delhi, October 3 : The witch-hunt of human rights activists by the Chattisgarh government continues, latest being the raid at Kavita Srivastava's house by the Chhatisgarh Special Tasks Police Force today morning. Kavita is General Secretary of People's union for Civil Liberties and prominent human rights activist. Chattisgarh Police armed with a search warrant and aided by Rajasthan police came looking for presence of Naxals in her house. Nearly 40 policemen were there, who looked through the whole house and left it in a mess. They didn't find anyone but it was completely aimed at terrorising and harassing her and sending a message that Chattisgarh Government is not going to tolerate her work as PUCL, General Secretary in challenging Salwa Judum, Operation Green Hunt and constantly taking up the cases of political prisoners like Dr. Binayak Sen, Kopa Kunjam (both of them are out on bail now), Kartam Joga and many others. NAPM strongly condemns such vindictive action against rights activists.

 

As Kavita said in an open letter to the media today morning, 'I have been targeted because they know that I have supported the struggle for restoration of human rights violation in Chhattisgarh and the rest of India. I have, through the PUCL, and other organisations worked against the arbitrary detentions in the State in the name of Maoism. Actually this act was to threaten me'. NAPM stands by her side, and stands for the rights of the human rights activists to carry on their work without any hindrance. We are not going to be terrorised by acts like these. They will only further our resolve to fight these tactics of the state and continue our struggle for deepening democracy, justice, freedom and peace.

 

We demand that the Chattisgarh Government restrains from such vindictive actions and rather work for protecting the rights of rights activists, general citizens and take special care in protecting the rights of dalits and adivasis in the conflict ridden districts of Bastar and Dantewada.

 

Kavita has been National Convener of NAPM as well. NAPM with PUCL and others will be holding a Press Conference on Tuesday, October 4^th at Indian Women's Press Club, New Delhi at 3:30 pm.
