Dear All,

 

Now the Global ferment has come to India. All across the country, there is a mass uprising against the collosal & widespead mega-corruption, scams, rising prices & unemployment.

 

A new Gandhi has arisen in the figure of Anna Hazare, who is a determined 74 year old man & he has a great moral & spiritual strength within his being - a true Satyagrahi!!

 

Today he has arisen as a symbol of the Indian masses in their battle against corrution & exploitation by the robber baron political-corporate & bureacratic elite.

 

He was to commence his indefinite hunge-strike today, with 1000's across the country fasting in solidarity & hundreds of thousands protesting in solidarity across the length & breadth of the country. Our demand is that there be strong legislation created in a bill - the Jan Lokpal Bill, which is meant to create suitable & foolproof legislation to counter & bring the corrrupt to justice.

 

Anna Hazare was to go on an indefinte fast from today onwards, but the Congress led UPA government has cracked down & has jailed him. Lakhs of Indans have gone to jail today & the government has miscalculated & panicked. They have practically imposed an emergency, where now even the right to non-violent protest is being targeted & our democracy & our constitution is being subverted.

 

Thousands across the country are sitting on an indefine hunger strike, whilst tens of 1000's are fasting for a day in solidarity with Anna Hazare, whilst protesting against the draconiam & anti-democratic attack on the fundamental right to protest & all our freedoms & rights.

 

In Mumbai, 46 of us - Satyagrahis - or those who struggle & seek the Truth & live by their higher conscience have gone on an indefinite hunger strike as well, starting today morning  - & this will carry on till we have the physical strength to go on.

 

We request all our international friends to observe the interesting struggle that is now raging across India & it truly has the potential to determine the very fate of Indian democracy, it surely is deepening it!

 

The masses are awakening, the country is uniting & with it, the struggles of all the oppressed are now coming together in a large democratic movement. Today Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsees & Jews are all Indians first. No barrier of caste or language divides us & there is an air of innocence, a patriotism committed to seeking justice & equity for every Indian.

 

The Indian masses are now at an historic juncture & there is an air of defiance & hope as well.
