US drone attacks in Pakistan 'illegal'

Posted: 14 May 2011 03:26 AM PDT

The US has turned a blind eye to international law and increased its "illegal" drone attacks on Pakistan's tribal regions, an analyst says.

"It's not right to use drones in any nation of the world to attack, using military force, it's clearly illegal under international law," political commentator Chip Pitts told press TV in an interview.

Visual evidence now confirms what earlier was known: namely, that Tokyo Electric's (TEPCO) Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station experienced at least one core nuclear meltdown, perhaps much worse than now admitted.

Rand Paul is missing the ones who pull politicians' strings

Posted: 13 May 2011 11:56 PM PDT

Politicians are not the government. Politicians control our government, but they are not the government. They are "the interests." In the US we have a system of Anarcho-Capitalism -- with no laws governing the selling of legislation to corporations or groups of speculators. Some trade for money, some trade for mere re-election, some trade for being tagged for higher office or a seat on a corporation board after retirement, and some settle for very well trained male and female fake prostitutes -- they really work for the one who pays them to control the vote of their client etc.

What's So Important About a Declaration of War?

Posted: 13 May 2011 11:00 PM PDT

Presidential hopeful Ron Paul insists that the U.S. government shouldn't go to war without a declaration of war. His son Rand has also taken this position, as have several libertarian-leaning Tea Party candidates. According to the U.S. Constitution, Congress is invested with the power to declare war. These constitutionalists say that obtaining a declaration should be a requirement before military action is authorized.

I'm not sure that this is resonating with those who are unfamiliar with what a declaration of war means. For most people, the declaration of war is a formality whereby the president makes sure that Congress agrees to the use of the military. Some might even go so far as to say it is the president "asking permission" from Congress to do so. By this reasoning, both Presidents Bush and Obama have complied, especially considering H.J. Res. 114 of October 2002. With that resolution, Congress authorized the president to use military force in the war on terror. What is the difference between that and a declaration of war?

The tide has turned in favor of the Assad government

As many of us observe the great Arab and Islamic awakening of 2011 in stunned amazement, as it rapidly spreads across the region, this observer agrees with those who declare, " well it's about time—Godspeed to the rebels and goodbye to the despots."

'Americanization agenda at work in ME'

Posted: 13 May 2011 09:47 PM PDT

The US manipulates global capital and economics for its self interests and its foreign policy doesn't include real democracy, says an analyst.

In an interview with Press TV, Phil Rees, TV reporter and director, elaborates on professor and scientist Noam Chomsky's recent remarks that the US prevents authentic democracy in the Arab world as Western-backed dictatorship governments violently suppress regional protests.

Behind the Holocaust

Posted: 13 May 2011 01:53 PM PDT

What was Hitler's unforgivable sin? He resisted Judaism. When you're a little kid in school or at the movies, resisting Judaism can be made to seem a very wicked thing. As an adult, you can be made to think that to resist Judaism is the very worst, the most dangerous thing. When you see what has happened to people who have resisted Judaism, well – you certainly don't want that to happen to you.

'US govt. rights abuse backfires'

Posted: 13 May 2011 11:02 AM PDT

US police capture and arrest an armed man trying to enter a US military base in order to seek revenge on the government for taking away people's personal rights, says an analyst.

In an interview with Press TV, Stephen Lendman, writer and radio host, says that there are many young men in America who are angry at the US government for taking away their rights.

Resurrecting The Bogus FARC-EP Files/Venezuela Connection

Posted: 13 May 2011 10:09 AM PDT

steve lendman

The story surfaced in March 2008 after Colombia's military, with US Special Forces help, attacked a FARC-EP rebel camp in Ecuador. Over 20 people were killed, including 16 or more FARC-EP members while they slept. Key among them was Paul Reyes, the FARC-EP's second-in-command, their peace negotiator, public voice, and lead figure in the Chavez-led hostage negotiations with Colombia at the time.

Tensions rose when Colombian Vice President Francisco Santos Calderon said three laptops and other materials were found at the FARC-EP camp. Containing provocative evidence, he said, it showed a Chavez/Ecuadorean President Raphael Correa link to FARC-EP rebels, including Venezuela providing them weapons, munitions, and about $300 million.

Israel's phantom of Muslim Brotherhood

Lately, the Zionist mafia sees phantom of Egyptian 'moderate' Islamic religious-political organization, the Muslim Brotherhood, in every coner of the Muslim world and beyond. Lately, the Jewish-owned mainstream media is full of scary predictions of Muslim Brotherhood's expected rise to power in Egypt, Tunisia, Jordan, Syria, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, etc.

Unprecedented: Obama admin. claims right to censor 'unclassified' materials

Posted: 13 May 2011 07:04 AM PDT

In the case of former National Security Agency (NSA) executive Thomas A. Drake — indicted last April and accused of funneling documents to an unnamed reporter at an unnamed newspaper, for stories that have not been identified — the president's lawyers have made a unique and potentially unprecedented claim.

With less than a month before Drake's trial begins, the Obama administration has filed a memo with the court claiming the Classified Information Procedures Act (CIPA) gives judges the right to censor and withhold material that is "unclassified."

Is the Queen's UK sincere in being surprised at Gaddafi's use of the Queen's British arms?

Posted: 13 May 2011 05:46 AM PDT

The Queen's UK government's apparent surprise at what Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi has been doing with weapons supplied to him by the the Queen's British since the anti-regime protests began in the country, has bewildered analysts.

The current unrests in the Middle East and North Africa and the following suppression of anti-government protesters with weapons and crowd control gadgets supplied by the Queen's Britain has raised question as to why the Queen's UK has emerged as the main provider of lethal arms to dictatorial regimes in the war-torn countries.

Arab journalists quit in protest against anti-Syrian propaganda

Posted: 13 May 2011 03:00 AM PDT

The major pro-western Arab satellite channels are painting the situation in Syria like an implacable repression by the government against the legitimate revolt of its people. This version is all the more credible in the absence of any public debate.

The fault lies with the Syrian Government which continues to ban nearly all access to foreign media, afraid that the collected information may fall into the hands of the foreign intelligence agencies which are orchestrating the turmoil.

"The 9/11 Black Box" to be screened at Cannes Film Festival

Posted: 13 May 2011 02:22 AM PDT

The organizers of the 64th Cannes film festival decided to feature two films by Iranian opponents: This is not a film, by Panahi and Mirtahmasb, will be screened under a special session, whereas Goodbye, of Mohammad Rasoulof, has been included in the Un Certain Regard section.

True to its political position, the Festival accepted five films presented by Iran, but chose to give them the lowest possible profile.

'US deems pliable states democracies'

Posted: 13 May 2011 01:51 AM PDT

The US intervenes militarily in other countries directly or by proxy in order to protect its lion's share even it amounts to overthrowing a democracy.

Press TV has interviewed Mark Glenn, a political commentator in Idaho, who sides with the notion that the US does not want democracy anywhere; it wants control and for countries to cooperate with America's hegemonic interests. Following is a transcript of his interview.

Osama's Dead -- but Are His Ideas?

Posted: 10 May 2011 12:00 AM PDT

When President Obama announced that U.S. special forces had helicoptered into Pakistan, broken into a secret compound an hour from the capital and killed Osama bin Laden, celebrations broke out all across America.

The man who plotted the mass murder of 3,000 of us had at last received his just reward. College students ran to the White House to chant "USA! USA!"
