 Invitation for a National Seminar on Palestine in Delhi on the:

 7^th of Sept 2010 (Tuesday), 4 pm to 6.30pm , Dy. Speaker's Hall, Constitution Club, New Delhi, 

It has been organized by the Muslim Political Council of India.

And a Public meeting in Mumbai at the: 

Marathi Patrakar, CST, 3rd September (Friday), 3.30 - 4.30pm. 

Organized by the constituents of the "Bharat Bachao Andolan" on the occasion of 

"The Day of Jerusalem" or the "Al-Quds Day".

Dear Sir/Madam,

 

As we in India pondering over the fate of the Palestinian people, the situation is worsening by the day. The extreme Right-wing Netanyahu-Lieberman led Likud alliance has no intention of adhering to International law or UN resolutions that do layout the basis for a negotiated settlement. To our utter dismay what we in fact see is the deepening of the Occupation, increasing Settlement activity across the West Bank, the ethnic cleansing of the East Jerusalemites & increasing attacks on the sanctity & sovereignty of the Haram-i-Sharif that includes the Al Aqsa Masjid & the Dome of the Rock which are amongst Islam's holiest sites. Worse, the siege of Gaza continues unabated in full glare of the International community. It was the "Richard Goldstone Report" that truly exposed the genocidal war that was launched by the Israeli leadership & makes them liable for criminal prosecution for war crimes.

            We also have to recognise the fact that despite the overwhelming odds, the Palestinian people valiantly struggled to save their nation from being occupied by the Zionists and till today the Palestinians continue to constitute the "International Vanguard" of our common struggle against Imperialism & Zionism.

            India was one of the countries, which had always espoused the Palestinian cause, even prior to our Independence. In fact the Palestinian struggle was woven into the very fabric of our very own freedom movement. Later as part of the founder-leaders and thus key constituents of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), we continued with our principled support to Palestine and our unambiguous opposition and boycott of Apartheid Israel. But unfortunately there has been a perceptible shift in our foreign policy, more so in context of our solidarity with Palestine.

Today the growing role of India is critical, both to the cause of regional as well as global peace and stability. We the people of India need to reclaim our principled & moral foundations and stand with the People's and Nations struggling for their independence from colonial occupation and thus our solidarity with Palestine.

Under this back drop and at the occasion of International Qudus Day,an annual  day declared by Late Iranian spritual leader and leader of Iranian revolution to mobilise public support in favour of right of self determination of Palestinians struggle,  Muslim Political Counsel of India a Political pressure group of Indian Muslims in collaboration and agreement with various socio political organizations of the country is organising a National Seminar to express solidarity with Palestinian cause and its people. It is expected that a galaxy of various national political leaders, prominent leaders of Muslim organizations, eminent journalists and known social activist will participate in the conference to be held on 7^th Sept 2010,  Tuesday, 4 pm to 6.30pm , Dy. Speaker's Hall, Constitution Club, New Delhi.

You  always endeavored and raised voice for the cause of Palestinian people under all circumstances without any deterrent. You are, therefore, very humbly requested to kindly spare some of your precious time to join this Seminar thus continuing your support to the Palestine struggle.
