Showing Black Flag to Dr. Manmohan Singh at Golden Temple
Demonstration by a couple of Anna Hazare supporters against Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh at the Golden Temple, Amritsar was the worst thing to happen on the New Year's eve when the Singhs went there on a private visit to seek the Blessings of the Guru Grandh Sahib by hearing Keertans and Ardas being devout Sikhs.
Keeping aside all political differences of opinion, the Sikhs in Golden Temple should have honoured Dr. Manmohan Singh, not as the Indian Prime Minister but as a fellow Sikhs, especially when they visited there as religious people to seek blessings on a New Year day.
Who stage-managed the bad show is less important than how it was allowed to happen in a highly religious Sikh holy place whose doors are always opened to the devout bhakts at all times. Earlier, the PM Dr. Manmohan Singh re-iterated his firm resolves to present good governance, leaving aside all the allegations of corruption against the coalition government he was heading since 2004. For more than seven years, he is heading the UPA government, despite diversities of sort and adversities/tough circumstances. The reason as to how he is continuing there till date is only because of his honesty, simplicity and sagacity. He has taken in his strides all sorts of accusations, allegations from "Shikhandi" to "Nikhamma" from a power starved and electorally tested but rejected opposition political class. In their endeavor to dethrone a consecutively elected UPA combination, all sorts of malicious allegations and propagandas are being unleashed by few
fundamentalist minded parties with the tacit support of equally fundamentalism savvy Medias, be it print or electronic. The saddest irony is the Anna bandwagon, a vehicle these disgruntled parties have borrowed to have their own way. Of course, by now, Anna must have understood how his name is being misused so wantonly by those power crazy stooges by stage-managing their shows at a highly religious place like the Golden Temple where, as a family, Dr. Manmohan Singh visited to seek his Gurus blessings.
Now, the hard question is: will the so called Gyanis of Harmandir Sahib, or the Sikh Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee take note of such unsavory instances seriously and ensure to maintain the dignity, religiosity and sanctity of the Golden Temple undisturbed by a couple of misguided, irreligious sections or group of hooligans who have nothing left with them than their bruised egos. They have now been fully exposed through their vendetta, on and off, inside as well as outside the august houses. They have now come out of their veils in the open and their ever dwindling numbers too proves it. Reports of Anna now facing health problems and that he will be out of action for at least one month also made his teammates to run for cover now. Sensible members of the so called team have expressed their shocks disbelief and their disapproval of such unholy acts by few vandals. But then, again, the hard question is: when will morality, civility and sincerity make its
head-way in Indian polity? God only knows.
