"We were warned before that it would be a futile exercise to visit this particular Ep as it was the fort of Siv Sena but".
It was an amazing and illuminating experience yesterday, when we did door to door campaign of EP No:100 - Ward No: 76, Andheri (east), Chakala/JB Nagar Corporator Constituency, which is supposed to be the strong hold of Shiv Sena ( after all Shri Subash Savantji a prominent Shiv Sena leader lives in that vicinity).
We would like to share the whole experience in details step by step
The local person who was supposed to take us around in that area i.e Chakala Gaovthan was late in coming so we decided to venture out on our own.
Along with Sangeeta ( of course), Taruj, Kediaji, two other LSP volunteers Gaurav and Hariharan we started our pad yatra.
We were at a loss how to approach, where to go, from where to start? as it was an unknown area.
Then Kedia ji took the lead and stopped the first person passing by and asked " do you live here? can u spare 2 minutes?
Then we started our monologue of introducing sangeeta.
Slowly slowly we started moving ahead following this procedure only.
To our surprise people were very cooperative.
One lady offered to take us around in her chawl.
Suddenly two youth joined and started walking along with us, calling out people from their houses, and introducing Sangeeta.
In no time we had a group of people who were with us
Reminded us of lines: में अकेला हे चला था जानिब इ मंजिल को मगर लोग साथ आते गए और कारवां बनता गया
During our two hours of visit we found out that although, it was the domain of Shiv Sena, people were not happy with the things as most of them were receptive to the idea of fight against corruption and they were very vocal about it " तंग आ गए है हम, कुछ तो करना ही पड़ेगा - AB BAS !!!!
Mean while our original contact person had also come and he also joined us and became our mediator. We met Muslims, Christians, UPites, Maharashtrians and they all felt Indian first. They want education, skill development, health care, rule of law and opportunity of lively hood for themselves and for their children.
Many offered that they will come forward to work for us, when ever we want.
As it had become very late we had to cut short our visit and we decided to visit once again after Christmas
Although we were told afterwards that this friendly welcome by the locals was a farce, they were just acting on the directions of the Shiv Sena people but being a +ive Loksattaits we ignorethese negative comments and dedicate and committ ourselves to rebuilding our Mumbai and India through clean politics and citizen centric governance at their door step.
We are hopeful that people are slowly awakening from their slumber and they are slowly gearing up to raise their voice and come forward. Tipping point is nearing.
