Lok Satta Party's Call to Uttar Prdesh's Citizen's Movement(s), Activist (s), Citizenry to bring Clean Politics and Governance to Uttar Pradesh by Joining Politics and becoming MLA.
LOK SATTA PARTY, A CITIZEN'S POLITICAL PARTY CALLS HONEST PEOPLE, DRIVEN BY CLARITY OF PURPOSE AND VISION TO CHANGE GOVERNANCE IN UTTAR PRADESH, ROOT OUT CORRUPTION AND MAKE THE STATE A BETTER PLACE FOR ALL TO LIVE.
The party will contest on the plank of providing corruption free good governance with decentralization and empowerment of District Government (s), citizens' participation and ushering in a new political culture.
While making this Call for Action, Shri Surendra Srivastava, National General Secretary of the party, said in a media statement that Lok Satta Party intends to field candidates in at least 50 to 60 assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh elections scheduled for 2012. Lok Satta Party has already launched an on-line campaign for soliciting candidates from UP Citizenry on the plank that you cannot "HATE POLITICS but LOVE DEMOCRACY".
Mr. Srivastava informed that after the internal screening of the party, the nomination forms filed by each prospective candidate will be submitted to Lok Satta Party's "INDEPENDENT ELECTION AUTHORITY" for their consideration and confirmation that the aspiring candidates do not have any reason like criminal record to be disqualified from getting the party ticket for elections.
He further confirmed that Party's Independent Election authority is chaired by Justice B.N Srikrishna, a respected Former Supreme Court Judge and others members being Advocate Anant Shende, a reputed Arbitration Lawyer and Dr. A. L. Sharada, Director of NGO "Population First", who also acts its Secretary General. He clarified that none of the members of the authority are members of the Party to maintain its independence.
Mr. Srivastava further said that if there are two or more members desirous to be party candidate, the candidate would be elected by a secret ballot by all the executive members of the respective assembly constituencies. Such election will be conducted and supervised by the Independent election Authority.
He added that, that Lok Satta Party has been consistently setting the benchmarks for inner party grassroots democracy and has established best practices for a new political culture, that is diametrically opposite to the currently entrenched political system of dynasty, money bags, muscle power and divisive, populist vote bank politics. He recalled that the Lok Satta Party had polled lakhs of votes in entire Andhra Pradesh, Bangalore and in Tamil Nadu in prior Assembly and Municipal elections.
This further establishes the party's philosophy of seeking the mandate of the people on agenda driven by corruption free good governance. Lok Satta Party will also demand from other political parties to commit to the citizens of UP that they will not buy votes, distribute money & liquor, will not give tickets to the criminals and that they will not indulge in dynastic and vote bank politics.
