Save sharmila Solidarity Campaign Mumbai

 

An update :

 

 Dear all

 

We ( NAPM and many other orgnaisations)  under the banner of SAVE Sharmila Solidarity Campaign started a Nationawide started a campaign on October Second on the non- violence day  and the campaign will connclude on 10th December on the human right day . In delhi  hundreds of women and others  will sit on a  - one day symbolic fast " at Raj Ghat including Aruna roy , Medha Patkar , Kamla Bhasin, ....and many other women activists artists and intellectuals, and women form all walks of life ..

 

 

In Mumbai to many of us activists, artists, workers, academics,  belonging to about 20 odd organisations such as NAPM, Forum Against Oppression of Women, Bombay Under Ground,  PWC, Awaz- e- Niswan, Akshara Centre, Republican Panthar, Committe for the Release of Vinayak Sen, Mumbai Survodaya Freindship Centre, Yusuf Mehrali Yuva Biradari,  Build, Kashipur Solidarity Group, GBGB,  Narmada Nav Nirman Abhiyan,  Indo Pak forum For Peace and Democracy ,  Peace  Mumbai, JAPA , Nirbhay Bano Andolan, Parivartan, Maharashtra Yuva Parishad, students groups  etc.. came together under the banner of Save Sharmila solidarity Campaign Mumbai to join hand with the nationwide campaign and started our campaign  on the 2nd october 2011 on wards .

 

Here is the brief Update of the programme we conducted ...

 

 

1.  The campaign kicked off  with a signature camapign on the 2nd of October 2011 at the Gandhi Statue near Mantralaya.. we got about 300 signature that day. 

 

2.  Guddi from Yuva Biradari and Mukta from NAPm joined the Srinagar to Imphal Yatra between 23rd october to to 29th October from Kolkatta onwards ..

 

2. On the 4th November on the day of 11 completion of Irom's Fast we had demo and signature campaign at Marine drive ... whic concluded with a vigil .

 

3.  13th November Justice and Peace for all organised a concert at Bandra in support of sharmila where two rock groups and one dalit vidrohi group presented dissent song and music .. Pash group read iroms poem in Hindi ,. Kamayani also read out her poem on Irom. THanks to vivek and Kamayani for organising this programme .

 

4. On 24th November A demonstration cum signature campaign took place at CST railway Station . We welcomed the yatri who came from Gujarat on a tour from Gujarat to Srinagar in support of Sharmila including Faizal Khan, Shahnaj, Yadav Ji, Suresh Bhai, and Mahendra.. Guddin took care of there logistics too. All of them joined us at CST for the campaign too .

 

5. On the 1st December we had demo, signature and a vigil  at Churchgate railway station

 

 

Campaign Material

 

We prepared following material for the campaign from the finantial contribution from the members and individuals. 

1.  A pamphlet in Hindi and English

 

2.  One 30 feet banner and another 6 by 4 feet banner

 

3.  Stickers

 

4.  A booklet on Irom called Menghoubi - the fair one

 

5. T- shirts

 

 We thank both the artists SHimanshu for creating  all the material including booklet, banner , stikers,  and Tushar for taking full charge of T- shirts including designing , printing and fiund raising.

 

Future Programme

 

To create awareness signature campaign we have organised the play by Ojas called " Le Mashale" ( brochure attached)  at various colleges in Mumbai Including ...

• St. xaviers college, 3rd December at 10.30 am
•  IIT  bombay on 4th December 4.00 p.m.
• Momin college in Thane district,  5th december at 1.00 p.m.   

We welcome other to join us to watch the play

 

The present campaign will culminate.. but not the support to sharmila ,  on 9th December with the programme planned by artists from Mumbai led by Tushar Joag .
