Israel fosters destabilizing acts of terror against Turkey as a means of silencing Ankara's opposition to policies adopted by Tel Aviv, a political analyst says.
Speaking to Press TV from Istanbul on Saturday, political analyst Yavuz Selim Kurt described Israel as a supporter of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which is responsible for hundreds of deaths in its quest for the establishment of an independent Kurdish state in southeastern Turkey.
"Israel is trying to destabilize Turkey and (is) backing this terrorist organization… Everywhere, they are supporting this terrorist organization in order to destabilize the country and to force them not to attack Israel's policies," Kurt said.
The pundit went on to link a recent deadly attack by Israeli commandos on Turkish citizens aboard a Gaza-bound aid convoy to a rise in the level of deadly PKK operations.
According to Kurt, the militants intensified their operations five hours before the Israeli assault.
He went on to explain that the hike in the number of PPK attacks was "completely related with relations with Israel," which is at its worst since the brutal attack on the relief mission.
Some 45,000 people are estimated to have died since 1984 when the PKK began its offensives against Turkey.
In June, the militants called off a unilateral ceasefire only to resume their armed assaults, with their spokesman Ahmed Denis warning that "we will take our operations to all Turkish cities."
"This organization is a…Marxist socialist organization and it is illegally founded and (is) trying to separate some parts of Turkey," Kurt explained.
PKK militants operate against Turkey from the Iraqi Kurdistan's Qandil Mountains, where Israel and Israeli firms operate.
The International Strategic Research Organization, a Turkish think tank, warned last month that agents with the Israeli spy agency, Mossad, as well as the Israeli military's retirees had been sighted providing training to PKK gunmen in the Iraqi Kurdistan.
