A senior commander in the Iranian Navy says the United States naval diplomacy has waned in the Persian Gulf over the regional uprisings inspired by Islamic awakening.

Rear Admiral Fariborz Qaderpanah, commander of the army's first navy region, told IRNA on Monday that the wave of Islamic awakening in the Middle East has dwindled the US visions of grandeur and that the country could no longer easily deploy its military forces in the region.

"Currently, the US has, over fears of serious threats in the region, diminished its presence at the ports of the Persian Gulf states and limited itself to some points in the region," Qaderpanah said.

The Iranian commander made a reference to the US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain and said that Washington is fully aware that it should pull its forces out of the Persian Gulf kingdom once the people take the reigns.

"Unlike the US which is in a passive position, the Islamic Republic and particularly its navy has the full authority and spends its most brilliant times," Qaderpanah added.

He also pointed out that Iran's Army is monitoring every move aliens make in the region and will thwart any attempt against the sovereignty of the country.
