 | Mandatory for pvt schools to reserve seats for EWS: CM New Delhi, Jan 24 (PTI) The Delhi government today reaffirmed that private schools will have to follow the guidelines for reserving 25 per cent of total nursery seats for economically weaker section and will act if complaints about non-compliance are brought before it. "It is mandatory for the schools to follow the provision for reserving seats for EWS students," Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit told reporters adding, if schools do not comply with the guidelines, it will be taken seriously by the government. When it was pointed out that complaints are coming up about some schools not following the order, she said such instances could be brought to the notice of the education department or the minister concerned for redress. Earlier on January 20, Education Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely had said the government will not hesitate to derecognise any private school if it finds that the directives are not being followed. The government is giving an assistance in the range of Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,300 per EWS child monthly to the schools for providing education. Apart from that, it will also give the EWS children books and uniform. Some private schools in the city have refused to abide by the government directive in reserving the seats claiming that the provision of RTE cannot be enforced on them.
