Bismillaah, wal-hamdulilaah, was-salaatu was-salaamu 'alaa rasoolillaah,

Assalaamu alaykum wa rahmatuallahi wa barakatuhu

70,000 People's Direct entry to Paradise!

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (salal lahu alaihi wa sallam) is His slave and the seal of His Messengers.

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 7.606         Narrated by Ibn Abbas

Allah's Messenger (saws) said: 'Nations were displayed before me; one or two Prophets would pass by along with a few of their followers. A Prophet would pass by accompanied by nobody.  Then a big crowd of people passed in front of me and I asked, 'Who are they? Are they my followers?'  It was said, 'No. It is Moses and his followers.'  It was said to me, 'Look at the horizon.' Behold! There was a multitude of people filling the horizon. Then it was said to me, 'Look there and there about the stretching sky!'  Behold! There was a multitude filling the horizon.  It was said to me, 'This is your nation out of whom seventy thousand shall enter Paradise without reckoning.'   Then the Prophet  (saws) entered his house without telling his companions who they (the 70,000) were. So the people started talking about the issue and said, "It is we who have believed in Allah and followed His Messenger (saws); therefore those people are either ourselves or our children who are born in the Islamic era, for we were born in the Pre-Islamic Period of Ignorance.''  When the Prophet (saws) heard of that, he (saws) came out and said. "Those (70,000) people are those who do not treat themselves with Ruqya, nor do they believe in bad or good omen, nor do they get themselves branded (cauterized), but they put their trust (only) in their Lord." On that 'Ukasha bin Muhsin said, "Am I one of them, O Allah's Messenger (saws)?" The Prophet (saws) said, "Yes." Then another person got up and said, "Am I one of them?" The Prophet (saws) said, -Ukasha has anticipated you."

Imaam al-Bukhaari (may Allaah have mercy on him) narrated in his Saheeh from Ibn 'Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet Muhammad sallalahu alaihi wa sallam  (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "I was shown the nations, and some Prophets passed by with a few followers, and some Prophets passed by with no followers. Then I was shown a great multitude, and I said, 'What is this? Is this my ummah?' It was said, 'No, this is Moosa and his people.' It was said, 'Look at the horizon.' There I saw a huge multitude filling the horizon. And it was said, 'Look there, and there, on the horizons of the sky.' There was a multitude filling the horizons. It was said, 'This is your ummah, and of these, seventy thousand will enter Paradise without being brought to account.'" Then he [the Prophet Muhammad sallalahu alaihi wa sallam   (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)] went inside, without explaining further. The people started to discuss what he had said, saying, "We are the ones who have believed in Allaah and followed His Messenger; we are they" or, "It is our children who were born in Islam whilst we were born in Jaahiliyyah." The Prophet Muhammad sallalahu alaihi wa sallam  (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) heard about what was being said, so he came out and said: "They are the ones who do not seek ruqya, do not believe in bad omens and do not use branding; they put their trust in their Lord…"

in another hadeeth, narrated by Sahl ibn Sa'd (may Allaah be pleased with him), according to which the Prophet Muhammad sallalahu alaihi wa sallam   (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "Seventy thousand or seven hundred thousand [one of the narrators was not sure] of my ummah will enter Paradise, and the first of them will not enter until the last of them do so. And their faces will be like the moon on the night when it is full."
(Reported by al-Bukhaari).

Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: "I heard the Messenger of Allaah Muhammad sallalahu alaihi wa sallam   (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say: 'A group of my ummah seventy thousand strong will enter Paradise, with their faces shining like the moon."
(Reported by al-Bukhaari).

Muslim also reported about them in his Saheeh from Jaabir ibn 'Abd-Allaah: "… then the believers will be saved and the first group to be saved will have faces like the moon when it is full, [they will be] seventy thousand, who will not be brought to account. Then will come those who shine like the stars in the sky…"

There is more information in a report narrated in the Musnad of Imaam Ahmad and the Sunan of al-Tirmidhi and Ibn Maajah, where Abu Umaamah is reported to have said that the Prophet Muhammad sallalahu alaihi wa sallam  said: "My Lord promised me that seventy thousand of my ummah will enter Paradise without being brought to account or being punished; with each thousand of them will be another seventy thousand, plus three handfuls of the handfuls of my Lord, may He be glorified."

The final part of the good news comes in another saheeh hadeeth, in which he Muhammad sallalahu alaihi wa sallam   (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "The people of Paradise are 120 rows, of which eighty are from this ummah and the other forty from all the other nations." (Reported by al-Tirmidhi, 3469; he said this is a hasan hadeeth).

The Book of Faith (Kitab Al-Iman) Muslim :: Book 1 : Hadith 427
Abdullah b. Mas'ud reported: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) addressing us said: Aren't you pleased that you should constitute one-fourth of the inhabitants of Paradise? He (the narrator) said: We glorified (our Lord, i. e. we called aloud Allah-o Akbar, Allah is the Greatest). He, then, again said: Aren't you pleased that you should constitute one-third of the inhabitants of Paradise? He (the narrator) said: We glorified (our Lord) and he (the Holy Prophet) then again said: I hope that you would constitute half of the inhabitants of Paradise and I shall explain to you its (reason). The believers among the unbelievers would not be more than a white hair on (the body of a) black ox or a black hair on (the body of a) white ox.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 56 Surah Waqiah verse

10      And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter)!

11      These will be those Nearest to Allah:

12      In Gardens of Bliss:

13      A (vast) number of people from those of old

14      And a few from those of later times.

Allah Alone Knows who these fortunate 70,000 believers would be, but in light of the above verse of Surah Al-Waqiah, it is safe to assume that a vast majority of them will be those from the earliest generation of believers and a few of them will be believers from later times.

What is meant by not treating oneself with ruqya?

People used all sorts of 'ruqyas' or charms, or incantations, or spells, wearing amulets, etc. to remove their afflictions before they became Muslim believing that could remove their afflictions.  But after accepting Islam it has been forbidden because only Allah heals.

Ruqya in Islamic sense is allowed

The term or act of 'ruqya' when used in the Islamic sense would mean the recital of some incantation seekings Allah's help for a specific fear or ailment.  Before the revelations of the Surahs Al-Falaq and An-Naas, the Messenger of Allah (saws) would at times perform the 'ruqya' and seek Allah's help.

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 7.632         Narrated by Abu Said Al Khudri

Some of the companions of the Prophet (saws) came across a tribe amongst the tribes of the Arabs, and that tribe did not entertain them. While they were in that state, the chief of that tribe was bitten by a snake (or stung by a scorpion). They said, (to the companions of the Prophet), "Have you got any medicine with you or anybody who can treat with Ruqya?"  The Prophet's (saws) companions said, "You refuse to entertain us, so we will not treat (your chief) unless you pay us for it."  So they agreed to pay them a flock of sheep. One of them (the Prophet's (saws) companions) started reciting Surat-al-Fatiha and gathering his saliva and spitting it (at the snake-bite). The patient got cured and his people presented the sheep to them, but they said, "We will not take it unless we ask the Prophet (saws) (whether it is lawful)." When they asked him, he (saws) smiled and said, "How do you know that Surat-al-Fatiha is a Ruqya? Take it (flock of sheep) and assign a share for me."

Note: It must be with the speech of Allah[Quran], His names and attributes, or the speech of His Messenger (sallalahualaihiwasallam) &  du'aa's so long as they do not contradict what is in the Qur'aan and Sunnah.

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 7.640         Narrated by Aisha

Allah's Messenger (saws) used to treat with a 'Ruqya' saying, "O the Lord of the people! Remove the trouble. The cure is in Your Hands, and there is none except You Who can remove it (the disease). "

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith  7.638        Narrated by Abdul Aziz

Thabit and I went to Anas bin Malik. Thabit said, "O Abu Hamza! I am sick." On that Anas said, "Shall I treat you with the Ruqya of Allah's Messenger (saws)?"  Thabit said, "Yes." Anas recited, "O Allah! The Lord of the people, the Remover of trouble! (Please) cure (heal this patient), for You are the Healer. None brings about healing but You; a healing that will leave behind no ailment."

 Al-Tirmidhi Hadith 1019        Narrated by Abu Sa'id al-Khudri

The Prophet (saws) used to seek protection against the Jinn and the evil eye till Surahs al-Falaq and an-Naas were revealed. After they were revealed, he (saws) stuck to them and discarded everything beside them.

Before the revelation of the Muawidaat (113th Surah Al-Falaq and 114th Surah An-Naas), the Messenger of Allah (sallalahualaihiwasallam) would seek the protection of Allah by reciting a 'ruqya' supplication; but after the revelation of these two magnificent Surahs, the Messenger of Allah (saws) would seek the protection of Allah from all evils through their recitation.

Quran is healing & mercy to believers

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 17 Surah Israa verse 82:

82      We send down (stage by stage) in the Qur'an that which is a healing and a mercy to those who believe: to the unjust it causes nothing but loss after loss.

Surah Yunus verse 57      O mankind!  There hath come to you a direction (The Quran) from your Lord and a healing for the (diseases) in your hearts and for those who believe a Guidance and a Mercy.

Ibn Teen (Rahimuhullah) said:"Treating with Muawwizaat, (Surah An-Naas, Al-Falaq, etc) and other forms, such as the names of Allah are medicine for the soul. So if these forms of treatment are on the tongue of the righteous, cure will be achieved bythe will of Allah."

Amulets

Uqbah ibn 'Amir narrates that the Messenger of Allah (saws) said: "If anyone wears an amulet, may Allah not help him in fulfilling his wish. If anyone wears a sea-shell around his neck, may Allah give him no peace."Narrated by Ahmad and Al-Hakim.

It is reported from Ibn Mas'ud that once, when he entered to his home, he noticed his wife wearing a knotted object round her neck. He took it away and broke it. Then he remarked: 'The family of Abdullah has become so arrogant that they now associate with Allah those for whom He has sent down no authority.' I have heard the Messenger of Allah (saws) saying: 'Verily, incantations, amulets, and love charms are acts of shirk (associating false gods with Allah).' The people said: 'O Abu Abdullah! We are familiar with incantations and amulets, but what is a love charm (altawlah)'?' He replied: 'It is a sort of magical formula by which women sought to gain their husbands' love'." (Related by Al-Hakim and Ibn Hibban).

Imran ibn Hasin reports that the Messenger of Allah (saws) saw a man wearing a bracelet of copper on his arm. The Prophet (saws) exclaimed to him: 'Woe be to you!' What is this? ' The man replied: 'I am suffering from weakness (al-wahinah).' (Al-wahinah is a disease that causes pain in the shoulders and hands. The man was wearing a copper bracelet believing it would relieve his pain and suffering). The Prophet (saws) prohibited him from wearing it because he regarded it as an amulet. The Prophet (saws) said: 'It will give you nothing but pain. Throw it away. Had you died while wearing it, you would never have achieved salvation'." (Narrated by Ahmad)

Isa ibn Hamza said: I went to see Abdullah ibn Hakim and his face was red due to high fever. I said to him: 'Why don't you use an amulet?' He said: 'We seek refuge with Allah from it. The Messenger of Allah (saws) said: "Whoever wears anything as an amulet will be entrusted to it". (Narrated by Abu Daw'ud)

It was narrated from Abu Basheer al-Ansaari (may Allaah be pleased with him) that he was with the Messenger of Allaah (blessings and peace of Allaah be upon him) on one of his journeys, and the people were at their places of rest. The Messenger of Allaah (blessings and peace of Allaah be upon him) sent a messenger (saying): "No camel is to be left among any group of people with a garland of sinew or a garland, but it is to be cut off."

Narrated by al-Bukhaari (2843) and Muslim (2115).

Note:His words: "a garland of sinew or a garland" – the narrator was not sure, but the former is more likely, because garlands were made from sinew, and they believed that that could ward off the evil eye from the camels.

Pendants with Words from the Qur'an or Hadith

'Amr ibn Shu'aib relates from his father and from his grandfather, 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr ibn Al-'Aas, that the Prophet, peace be upon him, said: "If one of you is frightened while sleeping, one should say: A'uzhu billah min hamazatish shayatin wa an yahdrun ' I seek refuge in Allah's perfect words from His anger, His chastisement, from the evil of His creatures, and from the suggestions and approach of devils.' Then one will never be harmed." 'Amr ibn Shu'aib related further that 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr used to teach this prayer to his older sons who could comprehend and memorize. For those who were not able to do so, he wrote these words down, wrapped them as pendants, and made them wear these around their necks." (Narrated by Abu Daw'ud, Nasa'i, and Tirmihi, who says it is an acceptable but unknown hadith. Al-Hakim says it is sound)

'Aishah, Malik, and most of the scholars of the schools of Ash-Shafi'i and Ahmad ibn Hanbal also subscribe to this view. Nevertheless Ibn 'Abbas, Ibn Mas'ud, scholars of the Hanafi school, and some scholars of the Ash-Shafi'i and Hanbali schools, according to one study, are of the opinion that it is not permissible for a person to wear anything as an amulet in the light of the above mentioned general prohibition regarding amulets.

What is ill omen

The following text of it contained in the sixth volume of Imam Ahmad Ibn Hambal's Musnad says:
Abu-Hassan reports that two people came to A'ishah and said to her that Abu Hurayrah narrates that the Prophet used to say that bad luck is to be found only in women, horses and houses. At this A'ishah replied: By the God who revealed the Qur'an to the Prophet! The Prophet never said this; what he did say was that the People of the Jahilliyyah hold this opinion.

It was narrated from 'Abd-Allaah ibn Mas'ood that the Messenger of Allaah (blessings and peace of Allaah be upon him) said: "Tiyarah (superstitious belief in bird omens) is shirk." Narrated by Abu Dawood (3910)

Branding with fire (cauterizing)-Forbidding here means that it is makrooh, the reason why it is makrooh is because it causes suffering and pain.

Medicine Bukhari :: Book 7 :: Volume 71 :: Hadith 584 Narrated Ibn 'Abbas:
(The Prophet said), "Healing is in three things: A gulp of honey, cupping, and branding with fire (cauterizing)." But I forbid my followers to use (cauterization) branding with fire."

Those which indicate that he did not like it, such as the hadeeth of Jaabir (may Allaah be pleased with him) who said: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say: "If there is anything good in your medicine it is in the instrument of the cupper or drinking honey or cauterizing with fire that suits the ailment, but I would not like to be cauterized." Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5683; Muslim, 2205.

Those which indicate that cauterization is makrooh, such as the hadeeth of Ibn 'Abbaas (may Allaah have mercy on him) who said that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "Healing is to be found in three things: the instrument of the cupper, drinking honey and cauterization with fire, but I forbid my ummah to use cauterization." Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5681.

In the hadeeth of 'Imraan ibn Husayn (may Allaah be pleased with him) it says that the angels would greet him because he did not use cauterization. When he used it, they stopped greeting him, then when he stopped using it, they started to greet him again. Narrated by Muslim, 1226.

Ibn 'Abd al-Barr said: I do not know of any scholarly difference of opinion, for they did not see anything wrong with cauterization if there was a need for it.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 33 Surah Ahzaab verse 3:And put your trust in Allah Alone; and enough is Allah as a Disposer of affairs.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 9 Surah Taubah verse 51:Say: "Nothing will happen to us except what Allah has decreed for us: He is our Protector"; and on Allah let the believers put their trust.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 3 Surah Ale Imraan verse 160:If Allah helps you none can overcome you: if He forsakes you who is there after that that can help you? In Allah then let believers put their trust.

 Alhamdulilahi Rabbil Alameen.

Surah Isra 17 verse 80 Say: "O my Lord! let my entry be by the Gate of Truth and Honor and likewise my exit by the Gate of Truth and Honor; and grant me from Thy Presence an authority to aid (me)."
Ameen.

Transliteration :Wa qur rabbi adkhilni mudkhala sidqiw wa akhrijni mukhraja sidqiw wa-j'al li mil ladunka sulta_nan nasira_(n).

Al-Tirmidhi HadithHadith 2482 Narrated by AbuHurayrah  (May Allah be pleased with him)
Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) used to say, " O Allah, grant me benefit in what Thou hast taught me, teach me what will benefit me, and increase my knowledge. Praise be to Allah in all circumstances. I seek refuge in Allah from the state of those who go to Hell."
Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah transmitted it, Tirmidhi saying this is a tradition whose isnad is gharib.

Transliteration:an Abi Hurairah (radiya Allahu anhu) qaal:
qaala Rasul Allah (salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam): "Allahumma infa'ni bima 'allamtani, wa allimni maa yanfa'oni wa zidni 'ilman, alhamdulillahi alaa kolli haal, wa a'odtho billahi min haali ahlil naar."
