Council What we can do to fight back Stand With the Georgia Prisoners' Strike Almost 40 years after the Attica prison strikes, prisoners are still fighting for basic human rights and experiencing violent repercussions. On Dec. 9, prisoners in six correctional facilities across Georgia began a coordinated strike, refusing to report to work. Inmates reached across the often violent divide between nationalities to demand human rights, living wages, and access to education, among other rights, and were met with violent repression from prison guards.
