 | RIGHT TO EDUCATION OF THE CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES-
Delhi Government run Asha Kiran Home for Mentally Retarded Persons at Avantika, Rohini, Delhi have nearly 900 inhabitants (Females & Males). Out of these 900 hundreds, more than 400 hundreds are in age group 0 to 18 years.
In a monitoring committee meeting on education of children with special needs held on 06.12.2010 under the chairmanship of Delhi Prinipal Education Secretary it was decided that Asha Kiran home's mentally retarded children will be brought to the mainstream school by making efforts either for opening of a school in their premises or providing admission to them to the nearby government school.
Pursuant to the said decision, a team from the Delhi Edu Department headed by Mr. R.P.Yadav, Deputy Director of Education along with me visited Asha Kiran Home today and discussed the matter with the Home's Administrator Mr. Nath. It was found that about 300 children with mild or moderate retardation can be mainstreamed in the nearby govenment school. The Education Department will depute a team on regular basis in the Home from 09.01.2011 and onwards to implement the process of mainstreaming the children. |
