In a statement released by the Democratic Leader's office on March 18th, Pelosi praised Iranian Americans for their contributions to the social and economic fabric of American society, and extended her best wishes for a joyous celebration. "Iranian Americans have achieved so much – succeeding in business, politics and academia; making extraordinary strides in law and medicine; leaving an indelible mark on our culture and our heritage," said Pelosi. "It is a tribute to our nation's deep-seated belief in diversity and pluralism that so many Iranian families came to the United States seeking a life free from persecution; in reaching our shores, they strengthened our country." Full Article » By PAAIA STAFF ![]() March 23, 2011, Los Angeles, CA - The University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Theater, Film, and Television (TFT) is establishing a new scholarship program for an aspiring Iranian student interested in earning a Masters of Fine Arts (MFA) in Directing. The scholarship includes tuition, room & board, a living stipend, and the production cost of student films for the entire four-year program.
"Iran has a long and prestigious history of creating great cinema," explained Peter Heller, Executive Director of Development and Industry Relations, UCLA TFT. "We believe that helping a new generation of Iranian filmmakers to learn their craft in America could foster cross-cultural understanding between our two nations. Full Article » ![]() The Iranian scholarship foundation (ISF) is a nonprofit organization founded to provide scholarships to the Iranian American students in need of financial assistance.
The ISF is a volunteer based organization committed to applying 100% of donated funds to student scholarships. All administrative and events costs are paid for by the foundation's founder.
Application season for 2011-12 is now available. Deadline for application to be mailed is Midnight of Tuesday May 31st, 2011.
