Sadrists call for boycotting Saudi goods

THI-QAR / Aswat al-Iraq: The Sadrist Movement in the city of al-Nasseriya on Sunday called for boycotting Saudi goods and products in solidarity with the Bahraini people.
"We will call during demonstrations on Friday for boycotting Saudi products in solidarity with an unarmed Bahraini people in an attempt to press the Al Saud government to withdraw its so-called Island Shield forces out of Bahrain and leave Bahrain's affairs to its people," Nusseir al-Mussawi, the director of al-Shaheed al-Sadr office in Thi-Qar province, told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
Bahrain has been the scene of a Shiite-led wave of protests since February 14 calling for political reforms and toppling the government while more hard-line voices call for toppling the regime.
Mussawi said that if interference by forces from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) continued then there will be another boycott of its products too.
The UAE is participating in the Island Shield forces with 500 troops.
Thi-Qar has been witnessing massive demonstrations of thousands of people during the past three days in support of demands by the Saudi and Bahraini people's protests and to condemn the Saudi interference in Bahrain's affairs by sending military forces.
Nasseriya, the capital city of Thi-Qar province, lies 380 km south of Baghdad.
