INDIAN UNION MUSLIM LEAGUE
Andhra Pradesh State Committee
PRESS RELEASE
IUML Condemns Military Intervention in Libya, Calls for Truce
INDIAN UNION MUSLIM LEAGUE (IUML), while decrying the military intervention by foreign forces in Libya said the inevitable has happened which it had forewarned two weeks back. It has called upon the Indian Government once again not to remain a silent spectator and do the needful to prevent widespread bloodshed.
The IUML State Viece President Mr. A. Rehman in a statement recalled that his party had called upon the Indian Government not to remain a silent spectator but use its good offices to restrain the United States of America, (USA), and NATO from executing their evil designs of military intervention in the name of restoring peace and check Human Rights violations in Libya. However, regretfullyRussia, China, Germany, Brazil along with India abstained when the No-fly-zone resolution of the UN Security Council was passed on March 18 which is not a healthy sign.
Mr. Rehman said that the No-fly-zone resolution of the UN Security Council is a most trying time for people who can see the total moral and political collapse of the UN as a world organisation expressing universalism. This resolution is slap on the face of peace, security, dignity and freedom of the Libyan people and the African Union who as African community opposed such moves against Libya.
He pointed out that this resolution contradicts the purpose of the UN Charter itself which protects the sovereign rights of member-countries to maintain law and order within their borders. The resolution is condemnable as it also defies the objectives of the Non-Aligned Movement. The UNSC is acting as a club of a few European states, the Arab League and GCC which have shown their slavish submission to the US which is in the habit of chasing and attacking weak countries.
He condemned all those who either voted for this resolution or maintained abstention. This is a painful moment after Iraq, Afghanistan and Palestine. In these cases, the UN and its key players have shown their true colours, dualism and hypocrisy in taking any military action against Israel which has been murdering Palestinians and playing with their dignity and human rights. It is a shameful moment for them to have allowed the passage of a dangerous and illegitimate resolution, he added.
Mr. Rehman said the Russia regretting the armed intervention by foreign forces in Libya is of no avail now. Russia instead of absenting itself should have vetoed the resolution. The Russia foreign ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich's statement is just to cover up is folly, he maintained.
The statement said the resolution is perturbing as it uses phrases and wordings deliberately crafted by the US and Zionists: 'to take all necessary measures to protect civilians and civilian places'. This is not simply a resolution for a no-fly zone but a total approval of naked aggression against the Libyan people under Chapter VII of the UN Charter to get full freedom to bomb Libya by all means without any conditions.
Mr. Rehman said it is an all out war against Libya. Already the news emanating from Libya say that the Western forces in the very first air strike have caused casualties of 48 Libyans. He said that the "No-fly-zone" is basically meant for preventing a country's planes to use its own sovereign airspace. This resolution has been approved under the name of "no-fly-zone" but its nature is much more dangerous. The role of the Arab League and the GCC shows the poverty of minds of rulers who are most corrupt and subservient to foreign powers. Their policies are not free and their behaviour is far from that independent nations. This kind of resolution should have been passed against Israel long ago in order to protect the Palestinians from the daily crimes of Israel which is supported and encouraged by the US, he stated.
He reiterated that the Libyan people struggling valiantly against the repressive regime of Col. Muammar Gaddafi are capable enough to overthrow their tormentor. It is a matter of time only that Col. Gaddafi will have to go like Egypt's Hosni Mubarak though it may be after much blood letting due to embattled leader's stubborn approach in not reading the writings on the wall.

INDIAN UNION MUSLIM LEAGUE
Aslaam-o-Alaikum!
I wholeheartedly endorse and respect your feelings.
However, I would like to point out, why would somebody else show pity to us when we ourselves have repeatedly failed to understand the situation of the world? Everybody knows the ruling of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) who said in the Farewell Pilgrimage, "All mankind is from Adam and Eve. An Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab, nor a non-Arab over an Arab; also the white man has no superiority over the black man, nor a black man over the white man except through piety and good action."
On the contrary, we have divided ourselves on the basis of country, province and city. We consider ourselves Libyan, Saudis, Sudanese, Indians, Pakistanis, Chechnyans, Kashmiris, Bangladeshis, Afghanis Palestinians and Iraqis etc. but not Muslims or even more importantly human beings. We are so ignorant that they are successfully and continuously manipulating us by the policy of 'Divide and Conquer.' It is our choice of remaining in the position of receiving or giving and if we want to follow or lead.
I must reiterate that 'Almighty God helps those who help themselves.' As such, our job is to keep reminding the Muslim nation like a watchman who keeps announcing in the dark of night to keep the people awake to protect them from theft.
Regards,
Habib Yousafzai
