Srinigar Jan. 07, 2011: - The Kashmir Institute of Strategic Studies (KISS) was launched today at hotel Comrade Inn, Srinagar, Kashmir by scores of eminent personalities, journalists and academicians. It is the first Institute of Jammu & Kashmir that focuses on studies and academic research in the areas of peace and conflict. KISS performs the dual function of serving as a high quality academic institution and policy solutions.
The Project Director of KISS, Mr. Khalid Jahangir said that Kashmir Institute of Strategic Studies provides strategic insights and policy solutions to decision makers in government, international institutions, the private sector, and civil society. KISS will conduct research and analysis and develop policy initiatives that look into the future and anticipate change in the state of Jammu Kashmir.
Other persons who spoke on the occasion were Mohmad Shafi, Pandit Retd. IAS officer, Dr. Javeed Iqbal (columinst), Reyaz Masoor (journalist) Sardar Jagmohan President Sikh Co-ordination Committee. Abid Gowher hosted the event, among others who were present were Dr. G.N Var (Educationist), Mr. Abdul Majeed Wani father of the late Ishfaq Majid Wani, Ahmed Ali Fayaz (journalist), Dr. Rafi Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industries, civil society members, eminent journalists and lawyers from high court.
Sikhs of Janab Guru Nanak Sahib, Christians, Bhuddists, Atheists and Hindus, irrespective of caste, colour, creed or religion, every resident of Kashmir is an asset to the nation. In view of the unending cruelty committed by the Indian government against innocent Kashmiris for the past 63 years, all of you are requested to stand shoulder to shoulder with your brothers in the peaceful struggle, who are fighting to liberate Kashmir from illegal occupation by the Indian government, adds Habib Yousafzai.
