NOW JAPAN IS CELEBRATING VICTORY

 

When in 1995 the Federal Law "On the days of military glory (victory days) in Russia”, residents of Sakhalin found that there is no law on 3 September being a Day of Victory over Japan.
    By signing on Sept. 2, 1945 the act of Japan's surrender, this ended Japan’s war with the Soviet Union and along with that, the Second World War.
    By Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR in commemorating the victory over Japan, September 3 was declared a day of CELEBRATING VICTORY over Japan. On this day at 2100 hours, Moscow on behalf of the country saluted the valiant troops of the Red Army, Navy ships and units, for having beaten Japan with twenty-four artillery salvos of three hundred and twenty-four guns.
    On September 30, 1945, the medal "For Victory over Japan", was established and in many respects was similar to the Medal "For Victory over Germany". The Medal "For Victory over Japan" on was awarded to 1.8 million people.
    Khrushchev, who had begun negotiations with Japan to conclude a "peace treaty" and the transfer of part of the Kurile Islands over to Japan, i.e.review the outcome of the Second World War, "unofficially" canceled the celebration on the 3 September as the Day of Victory over Japan.
    With redoubled energy, the pro-American puppets now entrenched in power, continue the policy of Khrushchev (Japan –is a strategic U.S. ally in East Asia).
   The residents of Sakhalin have repeatedly taken the initiative to include September 3 in the list of days of military glory as the Day of Victory over Japan, but their proposal has been rejected. For example, in 1997, Yeltsin imposed a "veto" on the initiative of Sakhalin, "explaining" that "the establishment of a Day of Victory over militaristic Japan is in contrast with the positive trends of Russian-Japanese relations." In 2000, the Defense Committee of the State Duma drew the following "conclusion," on the new draft law by the residents of Sakhalin: "Of the proposed wording -"September 3 is a Day of Victory over militarist Japan (1945)” – there is no obvious role and contribution of Soviet troops in achieving that victory. The assertion that it was the Soviet Union that made the decisive contribution to victory over Japan, is not indisputable. A significant contribution to the defeat of Japan was made by the United States of America ... "

   In order to "reassure" the residents of Sakhalin (who continue to commemorate September 3), and once again to appease Japan, the State Duma of Russia in July this year adopted a law that included September 2 in the a list of observances as a "Day of ending of the Second World War" ... Not a day of military glory – but anniversaries (which are not celebrated in the army or by the state;) not on 3 September - but on September 2, not a Day of Victory over Japan – but the ending of World War II.
    Not surprisingly, in Japan this law was received with great satisfaction. A member of the Japanese Foreign Ministry told Itar-Tass: "We understand well that on September 2 in Russia it is not a holiday, but simply a day of remembrance of the end of the Second World War. As its name makes no mention of Japan such as a "Day of Victory in the war with Japan." From this we conclude that, in approving the date, some concern for our country had been shown. " Indeed, our deputies expressed "fatherly concern" about the Japanese imperialists, whiten their crimes, and mockery of our veterans ... Japan "marks" legislatively established in 1981by the Japanese parliament "the day of a future victory over Russia” – the Day of the so-called "northern territories ", i.e. "Victory" is only desired, but never achieved ... (or it is already a foregone conclusion – as everyone knows that Russia's "leadership" during the last negotiations are ready to give back to Japan a part of the Kuril Islands, but Japan demands ALL the islands).
