Time for Indian media to investigate what went wrong with New Delhi
[TamilNet, Thursday, 13 August 2015, 23:30 GMT]Four decades ago, overpowering the US outlook, New Delhi successfully materialised the liberation and independence of Bangladesh from the colony-like rule of Pakistan. But within a couple of years the USA managed to hijack Bangladesh into military rule and to become non-friendly to India. New Delhi did quite the opposite to Eezham Tamils. It was the crucial strategic partner to the US-led coalition that enacted the first ever gang-genocide in the region to uphold a congenitally genocidal State. New Delhi emerged as the main protector of Rajapaksa after the war. Yet, if Indian journalists like P K Balachandran, long operating in Colombo, could now link Rajapaksa with emerging shades of Eezham Tamil nationalism, and they find only anti-Indian sentiments in them, then there must be something constantly wrong with New Delhi, which the Indian media should investigate.
"Sources suspect that the Rajapaksa faction of the United Peoples' Freedom Alliance (UPFA), along with a pro-LTTE section of the Tamil Diaspora, is behind the anti-Indian actions of the TNPF [Tamil National People's Front led by Mr. Gajendrakumar Ponnambalam] and CFD [Crusaders for Democracy recently launched by Mr. N. Vithyatharan]," said a news report appearing in The New Indian Express on Sunday, originating from P K Balachandran in Colombo.
The TNA (Tamil National Alliance in which Mr R Sampanthan and Mr M A Sumanthiran are the leading figures) is perceived as pro-Indian, according to Balachandran.
In a subsequent feature appeared on Thursday, Balachandran was particularly targeting the TNPF.
If the Indian journalist finds Eezham Tamil nationalism, standing for at least minimum fundamentals, as exclusively against India and not against any other ultimate culprits, and if he finds this linked to Rajapaksa, does he mean that Rajapaksa and the TNPF have jointly become pro-USA? In that case Washington must have certainly outwitted New Delhi. Indian media should investigate why New Delhi should always be the dog that missed the squirrel (A'nil ea'ravidda naay).
Or is it a dirty trick to strike two mangoes in one stone; discrediting Rajapaksa with the Sinhalese and discrediting the TNPF with Eezham Tamils, in order to steer the course clear for the TNA-Ranil hoodwink jointly staged by Washington and New Delhi for shielding the genocide paradigm of imperialism and for confirming the imperial - corporate conquest of the island at the cost of the nation of Eezham Tamils?
Agents of both New Delhi and Washington are equally anxious in probing the minds of the Eezham Tamils on their response to the elections, is the observation of ground sources in the North and East of the island.
Coupling TNPF with CFD of untested credentials is another naïve or deliberate insinuation in PK Balachandran's article.
The NPC Chief Minister, Justice C V Wigneswaran has come out with a sane statement (except for his faith in the West) this week on the elections. The implied message of the statement is obvious. Has he also become 'anti-Indian' according to the picture painted by Balachandran?
The Colombo-centric Indian media has done enough in the past in spinning and twisting; mishandling opinion making in India and in contributing to the genocide and structural genocide of Eezham Tamils.
How long principle-based stands of universal importance to humanity are going to be projected by the Indian media corporates through the prisms of 'pro-LTTE' or extremists vs moderates etc. is the question. They may tell this to gullible others, but not to a people who have practically experienced the extremism, terrorism, genocide and continued injustice of the imperialisms, whether regional or global.
