Dear Palash,

Ask CM Mamata Banerjee to oppose the BRAI bill.

Nine Greenpeace volunteers met Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and asked her to oppose the Biotechnology Regulatory Authority of India (BRAI) bill. She acknowledged their concerns.

The BRAI bill will allow the entry of genetically modified (GM) crops into our country.^[1] BRAI will take away our right to safe food and West Bengal's right to say no to GM crops.

Mamata Banerjee is known for taking a stand for the interest on West Bengal. As the Chief Minister she needs to protect the health of the people, environment and farming.

You should write to CM Mamata Banerjee and ask her to oppose the BRAI bill because it threatens Bengal's food safety.

Nine student volunteers managed to get the CM interested in the issue. Imagine what thousands of us, writing to her to oppose the bill, could achieve.

The CM of Karnataka has already written to the central government to express his displeasure with the bill. Mamata Banerjee can do the same and save Bengal's agriculture and our food.
